The Safe/Sea Salvor was built for Safe/Sea over the winter of 2005-2006 by Almar Boats of Tacoma, Washington. Her hull is welded aluminum, with a 26" diameter inflation collar.
The Safe/Sea Salvor is powered by twin Yanmar 6LY series turbodiesels that produce 370 horsepower each. Each engine is coupled to a Hamilton 274 waterjet through Borg-Warner 1:1 marine transmissions.
In the hands of an experienced operator, her waterjet propulsion system gives the Safe/Sea Salvor amazing manueverability. She can spin 360 degrees without moving forward or astern and can even move directly sideways or diagonally while maintaining her heading.
