The Providence Boat Show Starts Thursday!

02-Feb-2016

The annual Providence Boat Show will be returning to the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence on February 4th-7th. The Providence Boat Show is traditionally the area’s premier winter boat show and New England’s first show of the year. As always, Safe/Sea will be on-hand to sign up new members, renew current members, and answer any questions you may have. When renewing your membership, take advantage of our Boat Show Special, which will be offered for the entire weekend! The Safe/ Sea Crew always enjoys the Providence Boat Show because it gives us the opportunity to meet our members in a relaxed atmosphere, which is not always the case when we meet you on the water.

After visiting the Safe/Sea booth make sure to check out over 150 other booths with an exceptional assortment of boats of every type, style and use, from dinghies to cruisers, as well as a wide variety of accessories and services for boaters. The Providence Boat Show will provide leisure boaters and die-hard anglers a one-stop shopping opportunity for marine electronics and hardware, new and rebuilt engines and parts, fishing tackle, canvas work and interior design products, t-tops, slip rentals, foul weather gear, and boat insurance and financing.

The Providence Boat Show offers the opportunity to expand your knowledge about boating by offering interactive activities and seminars, several of which will be hosted in the Safe/Sea and Confident Captain Mobile Seamanship Lab! Safe/Sea Captain Phil LeBlanc will be presenting “Towing & Salvage” in the Mobile Seamanship Lab on Thursday at 6:00pm, Friday at 1:00pm, and Saturday at 4:00pm. In this informative session, Capt. Phil will give you insights into different types of mishaps—from sinking boats miles offshore to grounded vessels in hurricanes. He will tell sea tales while imparting the wisdom he’s gained in almost twenty years of extracting boats and boaters from every predicament imaginable. For a complete schedule of seminars hosted in the MSL, visit providenceboatshow.com/seminars/confident-captain-seminars.

Another exciting seminar is “Women on the Water.”  Join Confident Captain/Ocean Pros for a special two-hour Premium Seminar taught by women for women, sponsored by Safe/Sea. Led by an experienced female captain, this course is designed for women of all experience levels—whether you are just getting your feet wet or you have a few seasons under your belt. The Women on the Water program will cover navigation basics, rules of the road, docking and maneuvering, emergency procedures, safety, and much more. There will be plenty of opportunities for participants to have their questions answered in a friendly, relaxed environment. The seminar takes place on Saturday, February 6th   11:00 am – 1:00 pm. The $45 ticket price includes your Saturday admission to the show. Learn more and register at providenceboatshow.com/women-water

“Towing & Salvage” and “Women on the Water” are only two of many seminars that will cover sport fishing, safe boating, navigation and seamanship. There will also be high-profile speakers including Author Michael Tougias who co-wrote The Finest Hours, a live on-site boat-building demo by students from local high schools, and seafood preparation presentations by chefs from Simone’s, Simpatico Jamestown, Malt, and Blaze Village Kitchen.

Show hours will run from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Thursday, February 4th, 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Friday, February 5th, 10:00 am to 8:00 pm on Saturday, February 6th, and from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on Sunday, February 7th.
