Wickford Summer Concerts Are Back in 2010!

02-Jun-2010

The Wickford Summer Concert Series and Family Concert Series are back for 2010! Both sets of concerts are great weekly events for boaters looking for a fun cruising destination on Tuesdays or Thursdays after work.

The Tuesday Summer Concert Series takes place at the Wickford Town Dock parking lot, right on the water in downtown Wickford Village. If you come by boat, take the southern channel into Wickford Cove as you pass can #7 and continue down the channel past Brewer Wickford Cove Marina. There is a good amount of FREE dockage available on site, and the friendly boaters coming in for these events don't mind rafting out! Beginning June 22, 2009 at 1900, the series runs every Tuesday thereafter through August 10. The Tuesday Summer Concert Series features a wide range of bands from RI's popular Brass Attack to country acts. This series has been a favorite of the Safe/Sea Staff for years, as it's right in our backyard (literally).

The Thursday Family Concert Series takes place at the North Kingstown Town Beach and is geared more to the younger crowd. It has four dates, July 8, 15, 22, and 29, starting each evening at 1830. If you have a young family, this is the event for you! The town beach is just a short walk from Wickford Shipyard, where you can usually get a short transient slip for the evening.

Why not beat the summer traffic? Pack a picnic dinner, hop in the boat and come to Wickford on Tuesday and Thursday nights this summer for some great music and good company!

For more information on both concert series, including a description of the acts slated to appear, check out the North Kingstown Arts Council's official page.

The Wickford Town Dock is at the end of Main Street. The Tuesday night concerts are at the village parking lot behind Rite-Aid.

Actually, both docks are "town" docks. The one at the end of Main St. is for commercial vessel use only, while the floating docks at the Rite-Aid and main downtown parking lot is for recreational vessel access to the village. We'll be sure to be more specific next season, as the concerts wrapped up on the 11th. - ed.
