Local Marina Owner Wins National Award

Lynn Fiorenzano Named "Marine Woman of the Year"

Local marina owner Lynn Fiorenzano, of Silver Spring Marina in Wakefield was recently honored with the Darlene Briggs Marine Industry Woman of the Year Award. The award was presented at the Miami Boat Show on February 14th, and is given annually to a woman who is involved in the marine industry, exhibits outstanding business skills and who is commited to promoting women in the industry.

The award is given in honor of Darlene Briggs, the first retail marine saleswoman in Minnesota, and the first woman member of her state’s trade association.

As one of the few women in her line of work, Lynn is proud to state that not only does she promote bringing women into the marine industry, but that she hires women whenever possible. Lynn feels strongly that boating is a family activity, and she reflects this in how she runs her business. Her marina offers something for every member of the family.

She is also a graduate of The University Of Rhode Island and holds degrees in business and theatre. She initially joined the marine industry right out of college at the urging of a friend who told her that it was a fun industry. From there she has become an integral part of the industry in Rhode Island, even serving as President of the Rhode Island Marine Trade Association in 1998.

Lynn has owned Silver Spring Marina with her husband Nick Marzilli since 1986 and is proud of the facility they have spent years constructing. Silver Spring is not only a marina boasting dock space for 85 boats, but there is also a full repair shop on site, a boat dealership with an indoor showroom, a ship’s store and a pool and clubhouse for marina customers and guests. So whether you enjoy long fishing trips, water-skiing, or a day at the marina by the pool, Silver Sping has something to offer.
