The Maritime Center Opens in Wickford

New Maritime Educational Center Offers Many Resources

Captain Kent Dresser, President of Confident Captain Seamanship Training and 14 year Safe/Sea veteran, is happy to announce the opening of The Maritime Center - Wickford. Located along Steamboat Avenue in Wickford, The Maritime Center is a full-service training, licensing, and consultation center for mariners of all skill levels.

The Maritime Center is uniquely designed to assist and educate both the professional mariner and the recreational vessel owner. This facility offers licensing for 25/50/100 Ton Masters and Mates, Able-Seaman, Radiotelephone Operators, Radar Operation, and Celestial Navigation. Day, night, and weekend courses are available to accommodate all mariner's schedules.

With The Maritime Center, recreational vessel owners in New England can stay involved in boating year around! Aside from licensing USCG Captains and able-seaman, The Maritime Center will be offering numerous classes, workshops, and seminars to benefit vessel owners of all skill levels!

Topics will include Coastal Navigation, Radar and GPS Simulation, Rules of the Road, Celestial Navigation, Marlinspike, Yacht Management, Mechanical Troubleshooting, First Aid - CPR, and many more!

The state of the art, waterfront facilities at The Maritime Center include three classrooms, a computer and electronics simulation room, quiet study rooms, even staterooms and a galley!

To compliment it's educational resources, The Maritime Center also offers a comprehensive vessel consultation service. All vessel owners will have access to The Maritime Center's vast resources for consultation on any topic from cruise planning to bottom painting.

Captain Dresser will be combining the resources of Confident Captain Seamanship Training's successful hands-on program with The Maritime Center to help vessel owners to operate, manage, and enjoy their boat while getting the most out of their boating dollar!

Professional Mariners can use the consultation service to check current licensing and certification regulations, plan voyages, and access printed navigational resources. Consultation for all mariners will be as easy as a simple phone call to The Maritime Center's "Maritime Resource Line"!

Captain Dresser will also be working closely with Safe/Sea this winter to help develop a comprehensive Marine Assistance Dispatcher Training Course.
