Safe/Sea Renovates Dispatch Center
New Equipment & a More Efficient Design to Improve Service

In the past few years, boating in Rhode Island and her surrounding waters has grown in leaps and bounds. While the numbers of boaters in our waters increased, so did the Safe/Sea member base. During an average season, Safe/Sea has nearly 4,250 members, and services an average of 1,000 boaters. Unfortunately, the old Dispatch Center that we’ve become so accustomed to needed a major refit.
Over the winter months, members of the Safe/Sea staff sat down and hashed out ideas about what the new Safe/Sea Emergency Response Center should be. After a few days of refining ideas and a couple of months of construction and refinishing, our new Response Center is complete.
This new Response Center maintains many of the characteristics essential to our business yet integrates many new state-of-the-art technological improvements. One of the major additions is the addition of a “second-seat” for a second dispatcher on days of increased workload. A second seat is essential on busy summer days when the Center can take in over 100 membership renewals, e-mails, & phone calls, and still dispatch close to 30 assistance cases.
Aside from additional staff, our new Center benefits from new equipment that makes our response to assistance calls more accurate and more efficient, improving our service even more. To read more about our improved Emergency Response Center, please click here.
