Current Conditions at the Safe/Sea Emergency Response Center!

Coastal Marine Forecast

The Coastal Marine forecast is a primary source for current conditions and detailed forecasts for this area. Every boater should check the Coastal Marine Forecast before venturing out anywhere for any amount of time. The Coastal Marine Forecast can also be heard on WX Channel 2 on your VHF Radio.

"PORTS" (Physical Oceanographic Real-Time Systems)

PORTS is a real-time self-refreshing webpage which lists average wind speeds, peak gust speeds, and wind direction for 6 major points in Narragansett Bay including Providence, Conimicut Light, Fall River, Prudence Island, Quonset Point, and Newport.

Instant Weather Conditions

Though placed in downtown Providence, this weather source is very handy and is updated every 30 minutes.

Doppler Radars

Doppler radars are very useful when it comes to warning about oncoming weather. Most online doppler radar images have a "loop" feature which allows you to see different images over a period of time. This allows you to see if storms are popping up, dissipating, and what direction they are moving in. Each of the radars we have found are a little different from one another so be sure to check them all out!

Buzzards Bay Weather Buoy

Though a little out of our immediate area, lots of valuable information can be found from this recording buoy.
