The Season Begins...

Safe/Sea Fleet in their Wickford berth.

A new season is upon us and like many local boaters, Safe/Sea is gearing up for the warm, busy months ahead.  The entire Safe/Sea staff has been busy with Spring projects aimed to maintain the high-level of service that our members have come to expect.

Fleet Update
As of this writing, fleet manager Andy Casey and his support staff have 5 boats in the water and ready to serve our members.  Currently in the water in Wickford are the M/V Newport, M/V Salvor, M/V Titan, and the M/V Point Judith. Currently in Point Judith is the M/V Block Island.  As the season progresses, Captain Doug Gould will take the M/V Block Island to New Harbor and it will be available to service our members that venture out to Block Island this year.

Member Update
Captain Phil LeBlanc has been making rounds of the state, ensuring that Safe/Sea materials are available to everyone.  Materials like new brochures, tide charts, area charts, fish rulers, and stickers for both new and existing members can now be found in outlets around the state.

Systems Update
Captain Peter Andrews is almost finished developing a new interface for Safe/Sea’s extensive in-house database system.  This update streamlines our dispatch procedure even further.  This new system also allows direct communication between dispatchers and captains utilizing our high-speed network and Apple iPhones.

Dispatch Supervisor Nick LeBlanc has just finished installing a new communications system including new Apple iPhones, new telephones, telephone services, and a new Radio over Internet Protocol (RoIP) radio system.  In an effort to integrate the latest technology, Safe/Sea has teamed up with Bosch Security and Telex Systems and installed a new system that provides all of our radio communications over the Internet.  This system is a much more stable and flexible platform compared to older systems that depend on copper telephone lines. This system also allows us to manage our phone and radio lines from anywhere we have an active Internet connection providing great flexibility in case of an emergency or special circumstances.

We believe that these new systems will provide much better service to our customers and ease the demand on our staff during peak times of the season.

Please check back often as we will be adding updates on new services we would like to offer our members.
