She a 17′ Avon SR5 model rigid inflatable boat, powered by a Mercury 4-stroke outboard. Avon’s SR5 model is a venerable design, having been available and in service with many maritime assistance agencies worldwide for over 20 years. Generally speaking, the Safe/Sea Rescue is only used on July 4th and labor Day weekends to fill in for our primary responders if and when the volume of calls for assistance exceed our ability to keep up with demand.
